I called this place this morning. It lists a 3 bedroom at $585 a month and I wanted to make sure it wasn't a front for some death cult or worse... Amway recruiting. I mean, there has to be a reason it is so cheap, right? Sure enough, they are normal people. The conversation went something like this:
Me: We might be transfered from Michigan to Meridian and are looking for an apartment. Why is yours so cheap? Did we just luck out with where we are being sent, or is there something I should know?
Her: You just lucked out. What size are you looking for?
Me: Three bedroom.
Her: Oh dear. I am afraid I have bad news. The price is no longer $585. It has gone up.
Me: [Thinking to myself] Here we go...
Her: It is now $615 a month. I am sorry.
Me: I'll take two.
I called the Lauderdale County tourism board and got some great info. (Jeremy, you rock!) He told me great neighborhoods, where Marty's work will be, about the town, etc. He also gave me the name of a real estate agent who deals with rental houses.
But of course the most important thing Jeremy said is that by Mississippi law landlords have to spray for bugs because apparently the whole state is infested with these.
[Shudder]
